I really don't remember names that well anymore, I do know that I used MARS to call home during the holidays I was stationed in Crete mid 59's to late 60's in outside plant , took care of the antennas in the compound and remote sight. acted as scout Master for Troop #1 Trans Atlantic Council. at the time I was there Colonel Shean was command, My boss was a Lt Duffy, he got there just before I returned to the States. I worked with a Sgt Parr. If I ever learn to put pictures on line I'l send some, I also played on the base soccer team when we beat the Greeks, we were to be sent to the mainland for a tournament but they had to cancel for some reason. Sometimes My time there seems like a book I might have read. from motor bikeing in the hills to exploring caves in the hills above the base, the old German "88" sights with the caseings still there from world war two, the ruins of Minos, skin diving at pebble beach and the night life down town Iracklion., watching the Greek Army play war games in the hills by the remote sight, helping off load the USS O'brian with supplies in the harbor and trucking them back to base(almost got killed, when they dropped a con-X on my truck, the only thing that saved me was my truck stalled. I see pictures of the old girl then and now and can't believe the change. I believe that a Paul Culver replaced me when I came home.I don't know if You knew the Mail Clerk Jerry Ach, he ended up living five miles down the road. running out of time so I'll sign off for now AL

Hi everyone. Roger Adams here. I was stationed at IAS 1959 to 1961. I saw Sargent King listed. I played on the base softball team with this great guy. We traveled to Turkey and Spain. I have so many wonderful memories of my year and one half in Iraklion. I was on Charlie trick in the 6930th Radio Group Mobile. I hope to hear from others who were stationed at the same time. My email address is rogeradams07@comcast.net

Al, Thanks for writing. I am so very interested in those who served at IAS during those years. I also have heard from one of the radio those maintaining our R390s. His last name is Barlow and is listed in here as well. I wish you well and keep in touch. Roger

Albert, I just got an email from a Charles P. Okeefe. He was stationed at IAS the same years as me, 1959 - 1961. He remembers me, my Sid Snyder and others on Charlie Trick. He has a very good memory for names back then so you might want to connect with him as well. Charles is a member in here also. 500 and something if you want to search for him. He was friends with one of the Air Police, was orginally on X trick, then Baker and finally with me on Charlie trick. It's amazing to me to find guys like us who were stationed at IAS some 50 years ago. We are talking about people who are mostly in their '70s. What a small world that the internet has provided for us. Almost like listening to the guys talking on the phone to their wives or girlfriends when we were suppose to be Intercepting those assigned to us. Oh well. Keep in touch. I'd love to have a reunion for all those who were on IAS from 1959 to and including 1961. AWESOME!!
