Passing of one of our own. Guys, I received this email from Susanne Flanagan today:Please post this information on your website where you feel appropriate. Thank you. My name is Susanne and I am the younger sister to Steve Motyka. Im writing with the sad news that Steve passed away totally unexpectedly at only 45 years old on Tuesday, April 8, 2008. Steve was at home when he died and whatever happened was fast, we're still waiting to hear from the medical examiners. Steve served in the 6931st Electronic Security Squadron, Iraklion Air Station Crete, Greece in the early 80's and also at Misawa, Japan 09/81 - 03/83 in the 6920th ESG, DAWG flt. I was about 12 or 13 years old at the time and knew he had a very important and secret job in the Air Force. I was very proud of my big brother. Return to Crete Dear Friends,This old Ditty Bopper will be leaving the USA on April 30th for a three month visit to Crete. I will be there until July 31st. Blood Donor I attempted to register to be a blood donor and was told I am "Deferred Indefinitely" due to being assigned to a military station for more than six months in Greece. The reason given by the Food & Drug Administration is that military installations received their beef from England and a possible contamination of Mad Cow's Disease and Variant Crutzfeldt-Jakob Disease.When I asked if i could take some test to show I'm not infected and get off the deferred list, I was told no tests are available and it can stay dormant for over twenty years. The years involved in the Deferred Indefinitely list are 1980 through 1996. There are other countries involved in the deferment, especially England.
